David Heltzel - President & CEO

David Heltzel is the President of Phoenixx Design Associates, LLC. With 30 years experience in engineered products of all descriptions, he couples this talent with an artistic eye to ensure that all projects designed and produced by Phoenixx are beautiful and functional as well.

“There is an exact and precise method to turning drawings into functional working units”, Heltzel says. “That method includes the need for detail and a total project management scheme that is second to none. This formula carries over to our marketing division as well.”

Heltzel’s background includes a stint with the U.S. Navy, studying Engineering and Business Management at Penn State and York College of Pennsylvania and three patents on mechanical motion for food processing machinery. Dave recently developed a statistical / engineering teaching aid which is being marketed and sold internationally in partnership with Premier Performance Network, a Six Sigma quality training corporation. He has also worked on millwork projects for Senator William Brock, Secretary of Transportation under Ronald Regan, Cal Ripken, Jr., The Congressional Country Club and the Maryland Club.

“Since I regard Phoenixx Design Associates as an Entertainment and Marketing design company I am able to use my theater experience to the best advantage for our clients.” Dave has worked with the technical aspects of theater productions logging over 70 shows. Recently he completed set design and construction for “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, “Godspell”, “MASH” and “Titanic, a New Musical”. Dave has also worked on many sets including those for NBC, FOX, CBS, NPT, Inquizitive, a television game show, Studio 8 Broadcasting and WITF Television. Some of the newest projects Heltzel has completed are ultra-large outdoor graphic banners for the Maryland Transportation Administration, a traveling exhibit for the Oil Region Alliance, an agency funded in part by the State of Pennsylvania, a traveling exhibit developed for the Maryland Science Center and National Science Foundation regarding the science of the sinking of the Titanic, a mobile safety center for Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health and a new museum at the Perry Street Railroad Station for the Oil Region Alliance, Oil City, PA.

Heltzel is currently on the Marketing Committee of the York County Chapter of the Red Cross, a member of the House Committee of the Lafayette Club of York and retired from the Board of Directors of Easter Seals of York County where he was chairman of Buildings and Grounds. He also sat on the Board of Cosmopolitan International and served as Governor of the Mid-Atlantic States with Cosmopolitan as well. Cosmopolitan International is a service organization devoted to raising money for diabetic research. Dave’s hobbies include drawing, painting, writing and travel.
